Congratulations to Tom Huggins on his winning score of 37 points, one ahead of runner up Caroline Robertson with Anthony Mills third up on countback from Georgie Coats over the final 6 holes. Having debited the entry fee (£2) from each player's bar card account, we will credit Tom's account with £79, Caroline's with £52.67 & Anthony's with £26.33.
Keith Preston raised the inequity of ladies having 5 clubs while men have only 4 - the reason is that many ladies need a driver to get to the fairway off many of the red tees if they opt to play the Red course and that then leaves them without enough options on the fairway.
The average score for men was 24 points and the average score for ladies was 22 points. 25% of those scoring 30 points or more were ladies with ladies making up 24% of the field so the data shows that the 5th club creates equity rather than inequity. We did allow the men a 5th club one year but 1) some of them didn't enjoy the challenge as much and 2) they dominated the competition, hence the decision to allow the ladies an extra club.
